The Señor Wences Throwdown: On July 14, 2009, "The Colbert Report" (Episode #05093 - Comedy Central)
featured "Senator Wences" (a Colbert hand puppet) asking Judge Sonia Sotamayor "the tough questions while still maintaining cultural sensitivity."
Senator Wences bore a striking resemblance to the original Johnny Martìn, the hand puppet created by the late Señor Wences, the world's most famous ventriloquist of all time. Although Señor Wences passed away in 1991, his famous puppets Johnny and Pedro continue to work thanks to ventriloquist Michele LaFong, the only authorized protégé of Señor Wences.
Johnny recently watched the episode on www.ColbertNation.com and was in shock that "one icon would make fun of another icon!" As a result, Johnny has issued Stephen Colbert "The Señor Wences Throwdown" in which he has challenged Senator Wences to a singing competition. What will be Colbert's response?
